Race Summary

Let’s be honest that was not the race all of us wanted as a first race back. The Dutch Grand Prix did not give us much competition to talk about however that’s what we’re here to do so let’s try and dive straight in.

Lando Norris, a great qualifying position with Max Verstappen in second, Piastri in third and Russell fourth. Norris left a mighty gap between him and Verstappen on his qualifying lap. What is more impressive is that he was 0.5 sec faster than his teammate.

Start of the Race

I will say one thing Lando Norris needs to work on is his start yet again he loses first position off the line whether it’s lack of experience at the front or worse reaction times, Max flew past him into the first corner.

Stint 1

The Ferrari’s and Mercedes further back in the field were able to cut through and get to the back of the front runners relatively quickly. The Alpines were also looking very competitive in the first stint. On lap 18, Norris managed to close the gap to Verstappen and regain the lead of the race getting the race leader position. Stint one extended to about lap 25 when the leaders came in to the pit opting for the hard compound.

Stint 2

Leclerc early pitstop was a great call and they managed to undercut Piastri for the net lead and Russell. For once Ferrari did well with their strategy. Later in the stint Piastri managed to over Russell on lap 40. There was a great moment in the second stint with 5 card in close proximity fighting for position. Genuinely the most interesting part of this race. Lap 47 Sainz overtakes Perez.

Stint 3

Hamilton Came in to the pits on Lap 48 for soft on an alternate strategy to try and eat some time out of the front runners. The only other car was Russell on Lap 54 to cover off Hamilton. On lap 72 we then saw Norris take the checkered flag to become the 3rd multiple race winner this season. His had a mighty gap on Verstappen of 22 seconds. Well Done Norris!

Summary

It was overall a pretty underwhelming race however a major takeaway is the McLaren is supreme. With a few certain DNF’s and Car dominance that McLaren can get close to the WDC. Looking forward to something eventful at Monza.

Standings

Redbull are still ahead however gap is definitely getting closer and will massively close over the next few races. Redbull need Perez to step up more that ever right now.
