Lando Norris Gets His First Win At Miami GP

What an incredible race and congratulations to Lando Norris and McLaren F1. From Start to finish the Miami GP was eventful. First corner Sergio Perez nearly takes out Max Verstappen (Teammate and Word Championship Leader) and Carlos Sainz. This enabled the Other McLaren of Oscar Piastri to fly through into 2nd place. 

What is amazing about this race is McLaren's superior strategy and Lando Norris' race pace. He managed to close a 5 second gap on Carlos Sainz who was in 4th which forced Ferrari to pit early.

A few laps later a safety car was deployed as Kevin Magnessen and Logan Sargeant collided in the 3rd corner. So this gave Lando a cheap pit stop giving him race position however, it was his ability to pull away from the red bull which was so impressive. I am hoping this is a sign of things to come.

The tyre management and positioning of the McLaren was such an important move to secure Lando’s win. They perfected the one stop strategy for this race going nearly 50% on the mediums so when they went on the hard’s they could push harder and allow more degradation to create a gap. The hard compound tyres matched those of Max Verstappen choice but McLaren’s fresher tyre set and track position dominated. It does seem that Max had floor damage from the bollard which explains lack of grip under braking from the red bull.
