It’s Race Week. Lets Go Imola!!

It has been two years but we are back baby! I cannot wait to see the performance of the car after missing a year. Also with Red Bull and Ferrari bringing upgrades what will we see on the podiums.

Sector 1 has a total of 6 corners however 1, 4, 5 and 6 can be taken at a high speed and you are only really left with a couple overtaking opportunities into turn 2 or on the exit of 3. There will be DRS all the way up to turn 2 as well giving the chasing car plenty of advantage especially if on fresher tyres.

Sector 2 is the part on the track that the driver will have to be able to finesse. Sector 2 has 7 corners however chaining 11, 12 and 13 together can be difficult especially if too much speed is carried into it. Also there are also raised curbs either side of this segment which could result in some major floor damage so if they are pushing too hard. This leaves the potential to see a safety car or two. There will be opportunity out of turn 7 to overtake and possibly out of 13 but another consideration of this sector is the elevation changes. So given the above middle sector is for sure the most difficult however a good opportunity to harvest the ERS.

Sector 3 is by far the easiest sector with what is essentially two straights. It does however contain the slowest corner on the track and a small margin for error with it. This can be a great area to gain on the car ahead as they need a great exit but also great traction onto the straight heading towards corners 16 and 17. Once they arrive at corner 18 they cannot be too early on the throttle as that’ll put them at high risk of dipping into the gravel therefore making themselves even more vulnerable to a powerful DRS .

Overall I think we are in for a very competitive race with McLaren likely having the full set of upgrades and also Red Bull and Ferrari following suit there could be some excellent racing.

The weather is forecasted to rain most of week then clear on the weekend however there is a chance that the weather forecasts could chance creating a more strategic race.
